"Everytime your mind appears it produces an impression in your body. over time this energy accumulates. Every organ and tissue and bone in your body carries the vibrations of your mind. This is why we have to take care of our minds. This is why if we meditate we can take out all the bad reactions from our mind and body and heal ourselves.'‘

What does pranayama mean?  If you break the sanskrit down it translates as the following;

prana - life force and ayama- expansion.

We are aiming to expand our life force by creating a relationship with our breath. When I first got into yoga, I learnt that pranayama meant the control of breath; prana (life force) & yama (control) but the true translation, as I have been taught it by the wonderful Uma Spender, is the first one & I resonate & teach from that place. Expansion. Some of you as my regulars will hear me say the following a lot;  ' our breath controls our nervous system & our nervous system controls our breath' & yet we rarely focus on the breath as the source from which to begin work. I truly believe we can change our life by changing our breath & it is one of the most swift and effective ways of taking care of and reviving the body. I look forward to facilitating a new relationship with your breath and new tools in your mindfulness box.
